This course is for anyone who enjoys singing and wants to improve their technique and presentation skills.  The course combines both group and solo singing; group songs using simple harmony will be supplied. Students should also bring along 3-4 of their favourite songs, with copies for the pianist.  This course is relaxed, supportive and great fun, with the opportunity to perform in an informal concert to show off your ?party piece?.

Following the tremendous success of previous similar events, you are invited to come and join the festivities here at Knuston Hall for 24 hours just before Christmas, to relax and enjoy each other's company, coupled with the usual warm welcome. On Saturday evening after dinner, there will be an evening event called A Christmas Evening with Stanwick Handbell Ringers (see below for details of this event which can also be booked separately). On Sunday morning, you can spend an hour or so at "Peter Crisp", an exclusive local department store, where we have secured 10% discount off your morning?s purchases. We will provide transport to and from the store. Shortly before 1pm, following the arrival of those people joining us for Christmas Lunch and Carols (see below), we will enjoy an aperitif together before, in true Knuston style, a full Christmas meal with all the trimmings at approximately 1pm. The afternoon will finish with mulled wine, mince pies and informal carols around the Christmas tree, with additional guests from the locality. There will be no compulsory games or forced wearing of paper hats at any stage! Whether as part of a group, with a partner or friend, or if you simply intend to come along yourself, we would love to see you. If you do not really wish to join us overnight, but like the idea of Sunday?s Christmas Dinner and Carols, or Saturday evening?s event, please see below.

Following an aperitif shortly after 12 noon, a full Christmas meal will be served with all the trimmings in true Knuston style. After the meal there will be a short period to relax followed by mulled wine, mince pies and carols around the Christmas tree, with additional guests from the locality. The emphasis will be on the creation of an informal and relaxed afternoon together at this busy and often hectic time of year. Whether as part of a group, with a partner or friend, or if you simply intend to come along yourself, we look forward to seeing you.

This weekend will give those who already enjoy playing and singing folk music an opportunity to work together in a "safe" friendly environment, to enhance their own performing styles and their musical repertoire, and provide a gentle introduction to those new to the style.  Although no specific level of skill is needed, you should have a reasonable level of competence with your chosen instrument or singing style.  If you have not previously tried ?folk?, but are interested in this type of music, you are welcome to join in.  We shall look at some well known and not so well known Folk music and songs, and ways in which group dynamics can improve our presentation.  The emphasis will be on performing, and we shall be working in various formats from solo, duet or all-together sing-arounds, with an informal concert on the Saturday evening to show off what we have learned.
