The weekend will explore the different treatments of the dead that archaeologists have found in Britain. It will seek to show links between that treatment and the significance of the body as part of the belief in 'afterlife'. The excavation of a burial of any period is a very tangible link between this time and the past and much information can be gained or interpreted from them. The evidence of anthropology will also be used to show how modern perspectives can, sometimes, be misleading when considering belief and religion.
